And my eternal weak spot is knotty novels about families, relationships of all kinds, that are sharply observed with a clever psychology.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"color: #635f5f;\"><span>For what it\u2019s worth, a few writers I admire include Maggie O\u2019Farrell, Celeste Ng, Katherine Heiny, Liz Moore, Sally Rooney, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ann Patchett, Patricia Highsmith, Sarah Waters, Zadie Smith and Elizabeth Strout. Above all I\u2019m drawn to a strong voice, characters I want to drop everything to spend time with, and confident writing that grabs you by the hand from the first page and pulls you headlong into a memorable story.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p style=\"color: #635f5f;\"><span>I\u2019m afraid I don't represent children's books or YA.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"color: #635f5f;\"><span>In non-fiction I'd love to see\u00a0big ideas books that help us to think about the world today - alternative histories, psychology, anthropology and popular science, memoir, and genre-blending narrative non-fiction that fuses the author's expertise and personal interest. I also love great narrative food writing (I adore Nigel Slater.)<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #635f5f;\">Editorial work is one of my favourite parts of the job so I'm always committed to helping writers get their work into the best possible shape to share with publishers.
