Some authors who embody this for me are Adam Mars-Jones, A.K. Blakemore, Ottessa Moshfegh, and Sheena Patel. If the writing is great I'll fall for any story, but I'm always keen to read books that aren\u2019t afraid to explore, and find comedy in, the darker side of human nature. \u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span>Books that capture the atmosphere and feeling of a particular time and place will always appeal to me. In Cider With Rosie,\u00a0<\/span>Laurie Lee\u2019s ability to transport you to the Slad Valley in just a few sentences is extraordinary.<span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span>Some of my favourite books include\u00a0<\/span><span>A Month in the Country by J.L. Carr, Lanny by Max Porter, Clear by Carys Davis and Not A River by Selva Almada.<\/span><\/p><p><span><\/span><\/p><p>I love absorbing narrative non-fiction. Chloe Dalton in Raising Hare and Lamorna Ash in Dark, Salt, Clear so precisely and evocatively evoke the places and subjects they write about, you feel as if you're there. Books\u00a0that are surprising and broaden my perspective are exactly the ones I want to read.\u00a0<span>Late Light by Michael Malay is fascinating, and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty is hilarious and shocking in equal measure. Please read both if you haven't already!\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><\/p><p>I'm always keen to read great short stories. Some collections I love include, A Manual for Cleaning Women by Lucia Berlin, Young Skins by Colin Barrett and Rejection by Tony Tulathimutte.<\/p><p><br\/><\/p>","profile_photo":4050,"show_clients":true,"links":{},"meta_tags":"","title":"Agent","assistant":[]}
